Auburn&nbsp;is a city in&nbsp;King County,&nbsp;Washington, United States (with a small portion crossing into neighboring&nbsp;Pierce County). The population was 70,180 at the&nbsp;2010 United States Census.&nbsp;Auburn is a suburb in the&nbsp;Seattle metropolitan area, and is currently ranked as the&nbsp;15th largest city&nbsp;in the state of Washington.
Auburn is bordered by the cities of Federal Way, Pacific, and Algona to the west, Sumner to the south, Kent to the north, and unincorporated King County to the east. The Muckleshoot Indian Reservation lies to the south and southeast. Before the first non-indigenous settlers arrived in the Green River Valley in the 1850s, the area was home to the&nbsp;Muckleshoot&nbsp;people, who were temporarily driven out by&nbsp;Indian wars&nbsp;later that decade. Several settler families arrived in the 1860s, including Levi Ballard, who set up a&nbsp;homestead&nbsp;between the Green and White rivers.&nbsp;Ballard filed for a&nbsp;plat&nbsp;to establish a town in February 1886, naming it Slaughter for an officer slain during the Indian wars in 1855.
Slaughter was&nbsp;incorporated&nbsp;on June 13, 1891, but its name was changed two years later to Auburn on February 21, 1893, by an action of the state legislature. Newer residents had disliked the name and its connection to the word "slaughter", especially after the town's hotel was named the Slaughter House.&nbsp;The name Auburn was chosen in honor of&nbsp;Auburn, New York, for the area's shared reliance on&nbsp;hops farming.
According to the&nbsp;United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 29.89 square miles (77.41&nbsp;km2), of which, 29.62 square miles (76.72&nbsp;km2) is land and 0.27 square miles (0.70&nbsp;km2) is water. Two rivers, the&nbsp;White River&nbsp;and, to a greater extent, the&nbsp;Green River flow through Auburn. Historically, the Stuck River ran through the settlement of Stuck, which is now a small pocket of unincorporated King County within southern Auburn. In 1906, the flow of the White River was diverted into the Stuck's channel near today's Game Farm Park.&nbsp;References to the Stuck River still appear in some property legal descriptions and place names, e.g. Stuck River Drive, within Auburn, but today it is essentially indistinguishable from the southern White River.

Auburn

Ballard is one of Seattle&rsquo;s oldest neighborhoods, founded in 1853 and annexed to Seattle in 1907. Ballard has Scandinavian roots and strong ties with the marine and fishing industries that continue to this day. A hub for local artists, creative boutiques and gourmet bistros, it has become a destination for local Seattle music and nightlife, the majority of which is located in Ballard&rsquo;s historically-protected core. Ballard is unique, with one foot planted in Seattle&rsquo;s colorful past and the other stepping into Seattle&rsquo;s vibrant future. In recent years, single family homes have given way to urban high density housing, including condominiums, townhouses and apartments. There are a variety of neighborhood parks as well as a strong community center and pool. Located northwest of downtown Seattle, the downtown core is easily accessed from 15th Avenue NW.&nbsp;
Landmarks of Ballard include the&nbsp;Ballard Locks, the&nbsp;Nordic Museum, the Shilshole Bay Marina, and&nbsp;Golden Gardens Park. The neighborhood's main thoroughfares running north&ndash;south are Seaview, 32nd, 24th, Leary, 15th, and 8th Avenues N.W. East&ndash;west traffic is carried by N.W. Leary Way and N.W. 85th, 80th, 65th, and Market Streets (east- and westbound). The&nbsp;Ballard Bridge&nbsp;carries 15th Avenue over Salmon Bay to the&nbsp;Interbay&nbsp;neighborhood, and the&nbsp;Salmon Bay Bridge&nbsp;carries the&nbsp;BNSF Railway tracks across the bay, west of the Ballard Locks.&nbsp;Ballard is located entirely within&nbsp;Seattle City Council&nbsp;District 6, which also includes the neighborhoods of Crown Hill,&nbsp;Green Lake&nbsp;and Phinney Ridge, as well as most of Fremont,&nbsp;North Beach/Blue Ridge, and&nbsp;Wallingford.&nbsp;Ballard is part of the&nbsp;Seattle Public Schools&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Washington State Legislature's&nbsp;36th legislative district. At the federal level, Ballard is part of the&nbsp;United States House of Representatives's&nbsp;7th congressional district.
The area now called Ballard was settled by the Dx?d?w?ab&scaron; (Duwamish) Tribe after the last glacial period. There were plentiful salmon and clams in the region. The U.S. government code in the CDC (Centers for Disease Control which maintains a list of race and ethnicity for tracking) for this group is American Indian, Puget Sound Salish (Code A01-M43, H71).&nbsp;(There is no "Shilshole" tribe). The Burke Museum has artifacts from the group of Duwamish who lived at Shilshole.&nbsp;The references say that before non-Natives arrived, the group living around Shilshole may have been in decline due to a "great catastrophe". The remaining dozen or fewer families were evicted by non-Natives in the mid-19th century. One source suggests that the decline of the Shilshole dwelling Salish might have been due to raiding from Natives from farther north (Queen Charlotte's Island) and these raids also alarmed non-Native settlers. The last member of the Shilshole native group-HWelch&rsquo;teed or "Salmon Bay Charlie"-was forcibly removed to allow construction of the Hiram Chittendon Locks.

Ballard

Bellevue is a city in Washington state, across Lake Washington from Seattle. Downtown Park has a large lawn, gardens and a waterfall. Nearby, the Bellevue Arts Museum features craft and design exhibitions, plus a sculpture garden. The Bellevue Botanical Garden highlights Pacific Northwest plants, and includes woodlands and wetlands. KidsQuest Children&rsquo;s Museum has interactive science, tech and art exhibitions.
Bellevue lies between&nbsp;Lake Washington&nbsp;to the west and the smaller&nbsp;Lake Sammamish&nbsp;to the east. Much of Bellevue is drained by the&nbsp;Kelsey Creek&nbsp;watershed, whose source is located in the Larsen Lake and&nbsp;Phantom Lake&nbsp;green belt&nbsp;and whose outlet is near where&nbsp;Interstate 90&nbsp;meets Lake Washington's eastern shore. The city is bisected by&nbsp;Interstate 405&nbsp;running north&ndash;south, and the southern portion is crossed from west to east by Interstate 90. The&nbsp;State Route 520&nbsp;freeway roughly delineates the upper reaches of Bellevue.
According to the&nbsp;United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 36.47 square miles (94.46&nbsp;km2), of which 31.97 square miles (82.80&nbsp;km2) is land and 4.50 square miles (11.65&nbsp;km2) is water. The city's name is derived from a&nbsp;French&nbsp;term for "beautiful view". Under favorable weather conditions, scenic vistas of the&nbsp;Olympic Mountains&nbsp;and&nbsp;Cascade Mountains can be viewed from hilltops (and strategically positioned high-rise buildings) within the incorporated city. South of I-90, the city continues up&nbsp;Cougar Mountain, at the top of which is an unincorporated King County location called Hilltop. To the west of Cougar Mountain, Bellevue includes the&nbsp;Coal Creek, Somerset, and&nbsp;<a href="\" title="Factoria, Bellevue">Factoria</a>&nbsp;neighborhoods.
Bellevue is bordered by the cities of&nbsp;Kirkland&nbsp;to the north and&nbsp;Redmond&nbsp;to the northeast along the&nbsp;Overlake&nbsp;and&nbsp;Crossroads&nbsp;neighborhoods. Across the short&nbsp;East Channel Bridge, I-90 connects Bellevue to&nbsp;Mercer Island&nbsp;to the southwest.&nbsp;Issaquah&nbsp;is to the east, down I-90 at the south end of Lake Sammamish. The city is bordered to the west by many affluent suburbs such as&nbsp;Medina,&nbsp;Clyde Hill,&nbsp;Hunts Point&nbsp;and&nbsp;Yarrow Point. The south end of Bellevue is bordered by the city of&nbsp;Renton, and to the southeast, the relatively recently incorporated city of&nbsp;Newcastle.

Bellevue

Bothell is a city in King and Snohomish counties in the U.S. state of Washington. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 33,505, and in 2019 the estimated population was 47,415.

Bothell has several communities, districts, and neighborhoods. These include:

<li>Anderson School&nbsp;is a former junior high school that currently operates as a renovated restaurant, bar, and hotel, operated by the&nbsp;McMenamins&nbsp;family chain.</li>
<li>Canyon Creek is the residential area east of Canyon Park and south of Maltby Road, with two elementary schools Canyon Creek Elementary, and&nbsp;Skyview Junior High School. The schools are part of the&nbsp;Northshore School District.</li>
<li>Canyon Park is a commercial and business district at the junction of Bothell-Everett Highway and Interstate 405, with several restaurants, shops, and grocery stores, along with several major employers.</li>
<li>Downtown Bothell, north of Bothell Way on the north side of the&nbsp;Sammamish River, was an area originally settled by pioneers. It contains a business district along Main Street, and several blocks of residences at the foot of Beckstrom Hill. It also contains city hall and the police station, the Bothell Library, and&nbsp;Pop Keeney Stadium.</li>
<li>Fitzgerald is a southern extension of Canyon Park containing Canyon Park Junior High.</li>
<li>The Highlands is a neighborhood right next to Canyon Park Junior High.</li>
<li>Lake Pleasant/Country Village is the area bordering the wooded and winding portion of Bothell-Everett Highway between downtown and Canyon Park. Lake Pleasant hosts an RV park, and Country Village was an outdoor shopping center that opened in 1981 and closed in 2019.</li>
<li>Maywood/Beckstrom Hill is a residential neighborhood on the hill north of downtown, and is the location of Maywood Hills Elementary School, Heritage Christian Academy and St. Brendan's Parish School.</li>
<li>North Creek, named for Bothell's second-largest waterway, is a business and light industrial district and community with several large big box retail stores, and the production facility for the&nbsp;Seattle Times. The&nbsp;North Creek Forest&nbsp;is recently established protected area in this neighborhood. The residential part of North Creek extends to the beginning of the Everett School District and includes Fernwood Elementary and North Creek High School. Much of it is outside of Bothell city limits.</li>
<li>Norway Hill is a residential neighborhood overlooking downtown from the south. Since 2014 all of Norway hill is within the Bothell city limits.</li>
<li>Pioneer Hills is a residential community on the hills east of North Creek that borders Woodinville, and contains Woodin Elementary School.</li>
<li>Queensgate is a residential neighborhood along Brickyard Road, south of the Sammamish River and adjacent to nearby Woodinville.</li>
<li>Mays Pond is a residential neighborhood just north of the Bothell's city limits containing Woodside and Cedar Wood Elementary Schools.</li>
<li>Queensborough/Brentwood is a residential neighborhood west and north of Canyon Park, containing Frank Love Elementary School and Wallace Swamp Creek Park.</li>
<li>Riverfront, south of Bothell Way and mostly along the south side of the river near Riverside Drive, contains Sammamish River Park, Blyth Park, several residences, and the Northshore Senior Center.</li>
<li>Waynita is a residential neighborhood along Waynita Way between Wayne Curve and nearby Juanita. The former Wayne Golf Course, now a city-owned parkland, is in Waynita.</li>
<li>Westhill is a mid-20th century residential expansion on the hill to the west of downtown, and includes&nbsp;Bothell High School&nbsp;and Westhill Elementary School.</li>
<li>Shelton View is a residential neighborhood north of Westhill in Snohomish County containing Shelton View Elementary.</li>
<li>Thrasher's Corner is a retail district mostly outside the city limits of Bothell, that along with the residential Red Hawk neighborhood to the east is part of the city's official planning area.</li>
